Dogs can be so inspiring and ours happen to be more inspiring than I could ever have imagined. Dakota inspired me to write a bad dog book about her as well as put her on t-shirts, and Sierra has inspired me to double the trouble.

The latest inspiration is in the form of our Salt and Pepper t-shirts. Yes, the dogs inspire me strangely, but if you look at the logic it’s crystal clear.

Dakota is an Australian Cattle Dog/Husky mix, and the Husky genes dominate her appearance. She’s got a lot of white in her. Sierra is a blue merle Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog. She’s mostly grey with black spots from the topside, giving her a peppery look. You can see where this is going. Sit the two dogs side by side and we started calling them Salt and Pepper.

As a writer and a t-shirt designer, when something inspires me sooner or later it will find its way onto a blog post, a t-shirt, or into a book.

Salt and Pepper blossomed into the oddball notion of a set of salt and pepper shakers with dog heads representing the salt and pepper. Shake it up in a Salt and Pepper necktie, spice it up on a Salt and Pepper apron, toast the Salty Dog in a beer mug or coffee mug, or celebrate the sweet seasons with a greeting card.

Keep your Pepper Dog warm in a doggie shirt, or keep it simply Salt ‘n’ Pepper on business cards, t-shirts, tote bags and other spicy gifts.
